INSTALLATION |
How easy is it to install?
MAIN FEATURES |
What
is it used for? What are it's main features? |
It runs alongside the main program you are running. It is a toolbar and optional figure which floats above your work. It has a sophisticated spell checker with spellings in red and homophones in blue. There is a thesaurus for vocabulary help and there is also screen reading, word prediction and help with word endings. You can use it alongside the Internet to read web pages. |
GUIDES FOR USE |
Are there instructions/a manual? How easy are they to follow? | The
tour guide is very easy to use. I found it a bit difficult at first as I'm
not used to using computers, but after a few runs through I found it very
clear and easy. What makes it easy to understand is that the wizard is speaking
to you and explaining everything. There is good use of colour to draw attention. |
EASE OF USE |
How easy is it to use with a common sense approach?
GOOD POINTS |
What do you feel are the most helpful features for dyslexics? | To read back your own writing - I find that I can hear my spelling mistakes. Excellent screen reader on the Internet, can help people who are not able to read text easily. It is opening doors for people, giving then access to more information. |
BAD POINTS |
What is disappointing about this software? | Thesaurus doesn't seem to come up with appropriate words, this needs improving. |
VALUE FOR MONEY |
How much does it cost and is it good value? | £95
(+vat) If you find it difficult to read text and spell then I would have no problem recommending this software. |
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS |
Any
other comments? Ways it could be improved? |
It is also possible to get rid of the speaking figure if you find it off-putting or distracting. |
